House Bill 400

House Bill 400 will severely limit the ability of employers to employ independent sub-contractors and open the employers to lawsuits from labor unions. This bill was dubbed the Subcontractor Extinction Act by the PA Landscape and Nursery Association and is strongly opposed by the NFIB, the Pennsylvania Builders Association and the Pennsylvania Chamber among others.

The PA Senate Committee on Labor and Industry will take up this bill on Tuesday, September 21, 2010.

This is a REALLY bad bill that makes hiring of sub-contractors a very risky proposition and allows unions to sue employers over mis-classification. All of the Democrats are likely to support this bill and we must let the Republicans on the Committee know that the people of the state demand that they put a stake through the heart of this job killing bill.

Please contact the state Senators listed below to voice your displeasure. A call or email to your own PA Senator will also help.
